The Circus, commissioned by Cambridge Concert Orchestra, was inspired by the venue where they perform – Saint George’s Church – a unique church that is also home to Cambridge Community Circus!  

Going to the Circus is like stepping into a fairy-tale world where you are transported into a dream-like world of wonder, absurd, fantastic, sensational and ridiculous things. We are magically swept up in the surreal spectacle of it all and then it disappears. The music helps transport us to this magical place and I wanted to capture this feeling in the piece.
